52 weekly journal prompts to keep burnout at bay
Let’s be clear about burnout: It damages your physical and mental health. Research shows that it can thin the gray matter of your prefrontal cortex and enlarge the amygdala, which means that your brain’s alarm system is in overdrive. When this happens, your sympathetic nervous system (the fight-or-flight response) is activated, producing more stress hormones. Studies show that elevated levels of cortisol and epinephrine can damage blood vessels and arteries, raise blood pressure, and cause an increase in fat tissue.
Aside from our physical and mental health, burnout poses a threat to relationships (at work and home). Use these journal prompts to avoid the serious damage you can inflict on your life.
Written by psychotherapist Chris Warren-Dickins, these journal prompts offer a chance for you to keep burnout at bay. Making use of Polyvagal theory and other therapeutic approaches, Chris uses their many years of clinical experience to guide you through awareness about burnout and how to recover from it.
